Ooo, one I've been after for a while waiting for it to drop

Remnant II 60% off down to £16.79

But actually if you want the 3 DLC that have been released, one of them is brand new, then you need the Ultimate Edition for £23.59

The 3 DLC on their own currently are only 30% off at £17.85

This game looks awesome! @AccidentalDenz have you played this one?

I've played the first Remnant game, but not the second - it is in the backlog though. The first game was a little clunky in places, but you'd expect that from a game that's trying to do AAA things on a smaller budget. I could see what they were trying to do and I enjoyed the game. I've heard the second is more of the same, and I'm onboard with that, whenever I do manage to get around to it!

I need the Lord of Steam for this one…

@AccidentalDenz - a game popped up on my Steam feed with a few quid off. Billed as a cross between Into the Breach and X-COM but with a sense of humour, it potentially sounds right up my street. Lo and behold when I scrolled down a little it turned out someone I know already owns this game… Tactical Breach Wizards, any good?

Also, I really loved Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver on the old PlayStation (just looked it up, it came out just over 25 years ago. Damn I’m old) and I see that it’s recently had a remaster. Do you have an informed opinion on this matter?

Thank you in advance for pistol whipping me with your gun of knowledge 🙂

Short answer...yes..

Longer answer...yes, and here's some evidence.

Critics absolutely loved the game, and a touch over 9,000 people have reviewed it on Steam as of the time of my response and 98% of those enjoyed it. That alone suggests it's worth a play.

Many devs have a "thing" that they're known for. Suspicious Developments' thing is finding creative ways to launch characters in their games out of windows. They've previously released Gunpoint (available over in the Big Fat thread) which involved blasting people out of windows by shooting them. Their second game, Heat Signature is set in space and involves a lot of making windows explode with the knock-on effect that you'd expect. Tactical Breach Wizards has an almost SWAT-like feel to its gameplay and there are plenty of weapons/skills that have a knockback effect. And there are often plenty of convenient windows in each individual level. It'd be almost rude not to use them....

Turn-based tactics games are having a bit of a moment recently and Tactical Breach Wizards is one of the more high profile games in the space at the moment. If I remember right, I think it was one of the most wishlisted games on the entirety of Steam before it released. It was certainly on mine!

A few years back, I bought the Eidos Collection on Steam which was 50-odd games for £50 and I'd bought it for maybe half a dozen games that would have cost me about 50 quid if I'd bought them seperately as they were around a tenner each. The games I had my eye on were Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver, the original Tomb Raiders and Kane & Lynch 1 & 2. I've still not touched the majority of the games that were in that collection, but still feel I got my money's worth out of the games that I did play.

The original game was fantastic although doesn't hold up so well these days, but as you say, it's been a while...I have no direct knowledege of the remaster, but I'm aware that Aspyr are a dev team that are regularly called on to do remasters of games. They typically do a pretty good job and while I generally don't pre-order, seeing their name attached to a game is usually enough for me to consider a day one purchase once I've seen a review or two.

Reviews on Steam are Very Positive and critics did seem to enjoy it, but not overwhelmingly so.

The main contentions seem to be controls being a bit "wonky", so I'm guessing they kept the original control scheme without really updating it. There were also reports of graphical glitches, but an update in April seems to have sorted those out. Potentially is worth a play, but I've not done so yet!

Okay, that was less pistol whipping and more Jesse Ventura and his minigun in Predator.

I thanked you in advance but wasn’t expecting such attention to detail in the response. So thanks again… you animal.

I brought a minigun to a pistol fight.

Considering I'm vaguely autistic (never been tested, but I'm fairly certain I'm somewhere on the spectrum given some of my personality traits), I do tend to put time and effort into my responses when asked what feels like a genuine question.

Not PC but Hogwarts Legacy has been added to PS Plus library if anyone has the subscription. I thoroughly enjoyed the game.

NBA 2K25, Alone in the Dark, Bomb Rush Cyberfunk, Destiny 2: The Final Shape are the monthly games. Added them to my library but pretty much Meh.... although I've always fancied Alone in the Dark so might give that a go.

Normally, I'd point out that Borderlands 2 can be grabbed for free at the moment, but Gearbox changed the EULA a little while back to allow for spyware and so grabbing it for free is just not worth it unless you want to give up all your info!

That is just gross. Shame on you, Gearbox. And thank you Denz for that public service you’ve just done us. You continue to be a diamond.

It's truly insane and not something I'd expect from Gearbox given the reputation they'd built up over quite a number of years, seems a really stupid move!

Agreed. It takes a long time to build a good reputation but mere moments to undo all that good work. This, along with the recent Borderlands movie, are illustrating that sentiment quite well.
