Hi hopefully you can help. I do not know a lot about computers. Over the last couple of weeks my pc has started to restart itself whilst playing black ops 2, bf3 and bf4. This doesnt happen all the time it's more sporadic but it does happen and I can't figure out why.
My system is as follows

I7 2600k (3.40 ghz)
Asus p8z68-v pro sli crossfire special
1gb nvidia geforce gtx 560 3d vision ready (updated to latest drivers)
Corsair 750w enthusiast series
Titan fenrir evo extreme heatpipe cpu cooler

So I don't know why this is happening it started to happen a week ago and thats when I updated the nvidia drivers.
Could it be the geforce experience I downloaded. It has never happened hefore.

Help is required

Cheers

Simon

Hello,

Its possible its a driver problem.

Sorry im not a nvidia user but i imagine there first port of call would be to

uninstall all your nvidia GPU drivers then restart the machine
Download and install nvidia drivers from the nvidia webstie (Not beta if your trouble shooting)

See how it goes from there just to do a clean driver install and rule that out for a start.

Next thing might be to look at tempratures of the GPU after that if it does't work.

The BSOD Doctor
Boozad of this parish has described the most effective way of getting a clean install of NVIDIA drivers:

Download whatever driver you want to use to your desktop. Next, go to Windows update and set it to 'check for updates but let me decide what to install' that will keep windows from automatically installing it's video driver.

Next go to C:/Nvidia, open the folder and you should see a folder named Display driver.

Inside that folder you should see a folder for every driver you have ever installed. They will be names 320.49 and such. Delete every one of those folders, but do not delete the display driver folder, just the ones inside.

Next go to control panel > uninstall programs. Uninstall all of the Nvidia display programs, but this is important, uninstall the display driver last.

Uninstall the Nvidia update, Phys X, 3D drivers (few people use them), Nvidia HDMI, and the Nvidia update (it does not work anyway).

Last uninstall the display driver. You will be told to reboot, do so.

When you log back on, windows will install a display adaptor, that is OK.

Open your driver that you have downloaded from Nvidia, agree to terms, do not select express install, select custom install.

Make sure the 'clean install' check box is selected and uncheck everything except the display driver and PhysX, then install.

You will have to reboot after that.

That will be the cleanest install you can get, and you will not have the HDMI driver to conflict with the Realtek drivers, but should have all the drivers you need. You can then set windows update back to whatever you like.

Give that a try and see how you get on. Any rep should go to Boozad of course. :)

Do not use 331.40 beta drivers either, install the latest WHQL drivers if you're having problems.

Do you know what your temps have been while gaming?

Try another game. You need 331.40 for the BF4 beta, we need to know if the latest WHQL drivers have resolved the issue so BF4 isn't the ideal game to try them on.

That temp is fine although it looks like it was taken while idle. You need to minimise Afterburner to your Notification Area and let the graph record your temps while gaming.

Any idea of the temperatures? If you play in windowed mode you can get real time temps in your notification area.

Your temps are fine but the GPU usage is just mad. This is either a driver issue (I know this is old ground but can you confirm which drivers you have installed and that you followed the instructions in Ubuysa's post earlier in the thread) or your GPU is being stressed too much. Can you list the settings you're using please, and are you using V-Sync and Anti Aliasing?

EDIT: If you don't have GeForce Experience download it here and install it.

Then click on the Games tab and click the refresh button to populate your games list.

Capture copy.jpg

You'll have to start the game and play a minute or so for Experience to pick up the settings you're using, then go back into Experience, select your game and compare your settings to the recommended settings. If there's a massive disparity then click the 'Optimise' button to lower your game settings.

I do not know why my GPU usage is like that the settings for BF3 are

The Nvidia is as follows and yes I followed Ubuysa' post

Looking at your BF3 settings I'd say they're way too high, the card can't handle it. Try turning off Anti Aliasing and turn V-Sync on if you're using a 60Hz monitor. Then see how it runs.

EDIT: You have your resolution set to 1920x1080 144Hz, is your monitor 60Hz?

Sorry I forgot to mention its a 1920 x 1080 HD 120hz BenQ monitor, ill try it without AA an dturn V-sync on. Also I just checked the driver under uninstall an dfound that the PhysX and the update on there so currently going through a clean install again.
