Problem Accessing BIOS

Hi All,

Had my new pc for a couple of weeks now. Its excellent. However, today I tried to enter the BIOS and when I pressed 'DEL' when prompted, it just gave me a blank screen with a green mouse pointer. It stayed like this for ages and I had to force restart the machine.

I tried updating the BIOS, and the file I downloaded from ASUS' website was a .CAP file and I dont know what to do with it.

Here are my specs:

Asus A88-XM PLus MOBO
A8-6600K using IGPU
8gb Kingston HyperX Genesis RAM
120gb Kingston V300 SSD
Windows 7 64 bit

The safest way to update the BIOS is using the Asus update utility,instructions should be in the motherboard user guide.
Asus recommends not to update the bios manually.
