RAM speed AMD vs Intel

Hi

I just wondered why there is a difference in RAM speed options from AMD compared to Intel.

When customising a PC the top AMD RAM option is -Corsair VENGEANCE DDR4 2933MHz but the intel one is - Corsair VENGEANCE DDR4 3200MHz.

Is it because AMD CPU's only support up to 2933MHz? or a motherboard thing? and will there be much of a performance drop compared to intel when specing a gaming PC?

Thanks

I guess it's what PCS are comfortable with selling as stable, and/or based on what deals they could negotiate with their suppliers.

You'd need to contact PCS directly for an official answer though. If you do, let us know what they say :)

That said, 2933MHz (3000MHz) is still a decent offering for Ryzen. Far better than 2133MHz

Also note that with Zen 2's imminent launch and 500 series motherboards that come with it, it's always possible PCS may refresh RAM offerings as well in the near future.
