RAM upgarde DDR3 - Options

Hi All

I'm looking to upgrade my RAM (currently 8GB 2400 HyperX Beast), and so I will probably get it on ebay or something, as they don't really sell these in shops any more and I want keep the same modules.

Questions is: Will it make any difference that the RAM I'll buy won't be from the same packaging? (I know people often say they should be of the same module/SN) Does this stuff really matter??
Also, would it downgrade the performance if I was to get at 16GB Module (2x8GB), so my total was 24GB, You almost never see anyone having that amount of RAM, so is that for any performance related reasons?

RAM is pretty flexible you can generally mix different brands and sizes and not have many issues other than they will only work together on their lowest common setting including clock speed and latency so if you have different brands they may run at less than 2400MHz. If they are the same model then there should be no issues.
