REBAR not enabling

my other friends in tech have also been doing for years. Never had any issues.
I'm afraid that's 101 not to do as you'll get major driver conflicts.

You'd need to do a clean install.

Your friend may have gotten away with it in stability terms although I guarantee he's not getting full available performance, but I guarantee it's contributing to the issues you're having, it's completely expected in fact.

If returnal crashes I'll do a rebuild of windows tomorrow. Curious to see what the bios changes do.

OK so rebar will not enable no matter what. The computer on boot is taking significantly longer, there's definitely something funky with the bios/motherboard. I can't get it to boot into a memtest86 image from a USB.

Returnal crashed about 50 minutes in. The rig is completely unstable. I do not see a clean windows install fixing it as I never had this problem on my old rig when shoving my windows disk into it.

However, I will try it.

Running a full windows 11 reset that removes everything now. I do not think this will work.

Update: fresh build of windows did not work.

It is also crashing in Intel CPU stress tests and memory tests. Even though temperatures are fine. Running another CPU stress test with Ram clocked at 4800mhz

My pets currently dying in my arms. I'll report back tomorrow if I'm up to it... Is there anyone from support I can directly contact rather than just calling? I just need a Working computer...

A reset won't do any good, it needs to be a clean install.

I got someone to run some tests while I dealt with my pet. Didn't do another windows install. Ram is running at 4800mhz and the rig is now fully stable it seems survived two 1 hour tests instead of failing within 5 minutes. So this motherboard unlike my Asus one that died does not seem to like this memory speed.

Rebar will still not enable though.

I'm sorry about your pet.

When you say Rebar won't enable is that in the BIOS or in windows? It won't work in windows until you've clean installed as the driver layer will be borked.

I'll bow out now though, there's nothing we can help with until windows is properly configured.

The drivers get wiped with a reset don't they

Ok, apologies, I'm not gonna be able to help with this because it's really difficult working out the process you've done, I don't know what "Yep" means when querying how you sourced drivers for instance.

But basically you won't be able to configure REBAR until windows is properly configured, but it's proving very difficult to get to a point where we know windows is setup. But until that's clarified we can't do any troubleshooting.

I'm sure someone else wil be along later on with more patience.

I didn't think to check, but you've got the RAM in the right DIMM slots have you? Which ones are they in?
So I have an update I had to use 2 pcie cables as PC specialist only installed two and installing more is a huge pain due to their cable tying. However, that said, rebar is enabled with the 4080. So this is a BIOS bug with the 3080
