Meatloaf, the rock 'n roll god has passed today.

He was 74 and unfortunately succumbed to covid.

I didn't know his music well, I knew the big hits of course like "I would do anything for love" and "Bat out of hell" and really liked them, but never invested in his albums.

Where he did have a huge influence on me was of course his part in The Rocky Horror Picture show movie. That film changed my life, and I actually have a signed copy of the original release vinyl, signed by Richard O'Brien.

My Sister was heavily into Rocky Horror, and I got into it through her.

Rest easy, Eddie.

Fight Club is the film me and Mrs C first bonded with all those years ago and we still quote it incessantly to this day, it was a sad moment in our household when we found out he passed away.

Whilst I’m not in a position to call myself a big fan, this song does give me the chills. It’s operatic in it’s bones.


Should probably give another posthumous thumbs up to his long time collaborator Jim Steinman, who wrote and arranged a lot of the songs and died last year ✌️

Yeah, this is one of those breaking news's that slaps a bit hard.
Most of them are ho hums but this was on the level of Chris Cornell, Layne Staley, Dimebag and others over the years... that's the thing with your heroes I guess, especially the ones that carved a path for the others.

RIP you beautiful legend.
