RIP Sly Stone

Sylvester Stewart, front man of Sly and the Family Stone has passed away.

Just had a flick through the obituary piece on the BBC and then through my own record collection… What a band! Lived during the 70’s? You danced to their music. Too young for that and did your growing up in the 80s, 90s or later? I bet you’ve danced to a song that heavily sampled one of their hits.

Oh man, they put out some amazing stuff, recently just picked up an amazing box set of theirs with 8 records

They really were and remain prolific, there's a good list of what of theirs has been sampled and it's in HUGE hits all the way through to today
