what? seriously?

Aye, he stopped updating it 3 or 4 updates ago, if you look on the storefront page it's full of people complaining saying they've waited for months and it would be nice if he could at least let them know if he's coming back or not.

I was browsing through some mods last night and was toying on downloading divide et impera or radious but I wussed out in the end. Figured I should give vanilla a go before potentially messing up my game with tons of unbalanced user-created mods. I finished the tutorial campaign last night and found it pretty fun, looking forward to starting a proper campaign now. Sure there's a few bugs and the cities really don't seem to be that simple to manage (i.e. I don't have a clue what any of the little pictures are) but I'm hoping I get used to it.

Any suggestions on the best faction to start with? Obviously I was thinking Rome but then the Iceni is calling to me :D

Grimezy and Boudica sitting in a tree... :D

I do love when internet people start having a go at people that make FREE MODS. It is like when someone stops making a popular one for WoW...oh the uproar and internet indignation! :D

Mmmmmmm Boudica.

Yea it's pretty disrespectful but I think this Silven guy had been making mods for years even on the previous games and a lot of people couldn't even face playing Rome 2 without his improvement mod. I guess if he'd told them that he was going to stop they wouldn't have got as angry, they may have been disappointed but they'd have uninstalled it and started using a different one out there rather than waiting around for it to get fixed.

faction wise, i found that rome was the only faction worth playing tbh. I tried iceni and the other "barbarians" but they are all the same with slightly different skins and names. Pretty naf unit roster.

Rome was ok though, however, not a touch on the original rome faction (from rome 1)

mod wise, I have tried the Radious mods, (not recently) and whilst it improved the game, it did make it overly easy. and started to make his own units. Which were just OP re-skins of the normal units.

Silven, changed how the gameplay actually played. He slowed down the battles, gave you the option to have 240 or 320 men in a unit, slowed down the high kill rates, made the game actually enjoyable. Its a bit sad to hear he stopped updating his mod, but at the end of the day the guy does need a life and modding a game like tw takes considerable time. I tried to mod his mod at one point, (just to change the build times) but it took hours to manually change each building for each faction.

The only reason I used mods in the first place was due to the state of the game on release, coupled with quite a few design changes that CA brought in with Rome II. - Another Story kids.

Silven actually made the game semi enjoyable. I have no idea what the game is like now, I uninstalled it months ago as its easily the worst TW I've ever played. Are magical fire gate burning torches still included? magical Op troop transports? the overly basic consoley UI still the same? Ai siege battles still awful?

I used to make facepacks for Football Manager and uploaded them to a popular FM site (I still make individual faces for my own game for players who I sign). They were good extensive packs and were pretty popular, but I stopped as I was spending more time doing facepacks than actually playing the game. Oh how I was abused...
