Samsung Laptop Problem

Ok I know this isn't a PCS laptop problem but I don't know where else to ask.

My mum has a Samsung laptop that is described on their website as a gaming laptop. Inside it has an Nvidia GT650M (it shows up in Device Manager along with Intel HD Graphics 4000).

When I go to run games on this laptop, only the Intel graphics are available for selection. This means that the games don't run as well as they could.

How do you activate the 650M? I tried disabling the Intel card but when I go to run a game it says "No supported graphics card is detected" (or something along those lines).

Thanks :)

Sell it and buy a PCS laptop seems to be the only way forward I would say :/

Pretend Fear speaks the truth.

Like many times in life, sometimes all you can do is sell it and buy a PCS one instead :D (not restricted to computers!)

Right click desktop -> Nvidia Control Panel. Under Manage 3d Settings -> Global tab you should have a "graphics processor" drop down menu. Select Prefer high end nvidia GPU - you may need to do this for each game profile.

There will be a blindingly obvious difference between the 650M and the HD4000; if you still dont notice it you may need to reinstall drivers etc. Note however that all games with hardware detection wil detect the HD4000 andnot the 650M, however the 650M will run the game if you have done the above.

Refer to these performance lists for comparisons in gaming performance:
