Screen not working but laptop works fine. Optimus V

Hey guys

I've had my laptop for two years and have always been very careful with my laptop making sure it is protected when i transport it around. When i turned on my laptop recently the screen won't come on. The laptop still works perfectly fine as i have logged into it via Team viewer. The last thing that i did on it was update windows 8 but i doubt this is why my screen won't turn on. Could it be a connection to the screen has become loose or might i have to replace my screen?

Any help on this would be great, Thanks!

Hello, do you get at least a splach screen with the PC Specialist logo or similar when the machine is first switched on or is it just black the whole time?

Black the whole time. I have just shined a very bright light on it and i can see the the desktop. I guess this means the backlight has died. Is this easy to Replace?

some laptops have a F/N button that turns the backlight on and off. make sure it's not been turned off before you think about changing the backlight.

some laptops have a F/N button that turns the backlight on and off. make sure it's not been turned off before you think about changing the backlight.

That button only effects the screen untill you touch the keyboard or touch pad.

on my laptop it turns off the backlight completely, i think it's so you can mirror display onto an external monitor without the laptops screen being illuminated.
