Built one years ago now I realize that im severely outdated, looking for something under €1200 more so €1000 (really like the idea of having 6 core CPU). Kind of messed around with this setup but idk. im upgrading from old parts(GTX 1070, i5-6600 4 core @3.3GHz) and don't need something top of the line and the newest out just a bump on my current specs. I play on 1080p @75 hertz not really online competitive games more so open world sandbox RPG. not looking into overclocking (but potentially might someday) anyways if anyone has some suggestions/tips that would be great :)

I would be very surprised if your old system is bottle necking your monitor. I think you need to do some serious benchmarking to see if in the games you play are consistently under 75fps , and whether that even matters.

If you do go ahead then you will need to upgrade that motherboard and ideally faster RAM, and I can't see the point going from 1070 to 2060 so then need a 3060 , which then needs a better monitor....!

Or get the rest and reuse the GPU for now

So save up or make do otherwise you won't see a big difference!

Thanks for the reply . If you could elaborate the first part I would be greatly interested.

I will be reusing the old computer for the wife
Also probably would have been handy to mention I'll be getting a 1440p monitor with better refresh rate apologies.

My reasoning for a 2060 is the dlss capability. Also have been looking at the 5700XT I'm just unsure of the GPU. the price tag on the new 30 series is just way out of my budget and I wouldn't use it to its fullest value and by the time I want to upgrade again it will be an older card 😂

I'll be taking a look at motherboards now thank you for the suggestions.

Bit of tweaking on the build .

Yes, as Martin hints at you are caught a little in-between GPU's if you are going for a 1440p monitor.

I think a 2060 will just about manage but it feels like a little bit of a dead end purchase due to its age as it has been replaced. It will not get to the full 144 fps on all games at high settings - a little bit of a shame having invested in a new PC and new Monitor. I still think there is mileage in keeping the 1070 for a while to save up for a 3060, or wait until supply/prices come down in the new year.
Again the 1070 will cope with the resolution but will not get to 144mhz on AAA games. Is that important for a while? This assumes your wife does not need the 1070? (Will she play games on it?). She could even get a 1050ti which would still be ok for her monitor depending on the games she plays.

You should upgrade (small cost) the SSD (250gb ideally) to a PCS m.2 SSD, small difference in price but the latest SSD technology (4 times quicker).
Sadly you also need to upgrade the PSU to at least 550w for future GPU changes you might make (only £6 minimum).
Oh, and Silver warranty is worth the £5

im sourcing storage locally hence the one storage device.

not in the market for a beast just something that will hold up to standards/ has potential for upgrades down the line.

To have the potential for upgrades in the future you need a more powe PSU, not less. A 750W RMx will allow you to easily change the graphics card in the future and 850 W RMx would give you more flexibility.
