Just had an Email saying sky is taking over O2,is this true?
as an O2 user I find this a bit worrying,if it is true does anyone think it will improve things,I've always been quite happy with 02,and don't have the option for cable,so how would this affect things.?

I have sky internet here, (not the bill payer) but whilst the speed is slow, due to distance from the exchange I presume, the service is pretty good. I get unlimited downloads, and until last night I have never had an internet problem before.

I have much the same speed as you last posted, just over 5Mb/s download, normally I'm quite happy with that, but sometimes it's a bit choppy when streaming BBCi player for example.
I don't really expect that to improve any as it's about as good as you'll get in my area at the moment.

Speeds of fail :(

Worst bit of that "Slower than 90% of GB"

tell me about it, unfortunately I'm not the bill payer so cant do anything about it. AND the bill payer isn't particularly interested in even considering upgrading the speed (to fibre optic)

One day steaky, one day....

This all confuses me. BT Cellnet were bought out and created O2. BT still made mobiles however. Now Vodafone have purchased BT. End result is BT = profitable name for your company. :)

As far as fibre obtic broadband. Its a hit and miss game whoever you go with. I was with NTL for years untill Virgin bought em out to create virgin media. Infact my email addy is still an @ntlworld.com one. Virgin have rolled out these nice new speedy services yet have also introduced changes to there traffic management system.

I have my own account at my house and another account at my girlfriends. in the evenings my speed is capped down to 2mps. From 60. I hate them so much right now.

Not sure why I'm in London though... I'm actually in Aberdeen (at work though, so that's probably why). Weird.

Well it appears Sky are on a buyout spree.

They have bought out O2 Home Broadband and Phones.
O2 still own the mobile network, there website states they have sold off the home phone and broadband to focus on rolling out 4G on the O2 network.

Sky have also bought out bethere internet, I used to be on them but no longer but a friend got a email from them saying they are being bought out by Sky
