Looks good. I assume you'll be installing your own copy of Win 10 on it?

You could drop the CPU to an i5 7300HQ if you wanted to save money. The performance difference for most gaming is likely to be negligible, especially paired with a 1050 ti, and the i7 appears to be almost £100 more expensive.

Yeah I've got my own copy of Windows. I'd be fine with dropping to an i5 7300HQ, especially to save £100, but the only option for this laptop was the 7700HQ and I didn't see any other 13"-14" laptops with dedicated graphics (I could be wrong though).

My bad, I saw a 1050 ti and my brain assumed it was the Optimus VIII (which has that option). The price difference between CPUs varies from chassis to chassis so it's quite possible that even if it were an option for the Defiance the saving would be much smaller.

I'd be using this laptop for school as we have a 4-hour 'enrichment' period every Wednesday where you can do gaming, coding, graphic design, sport, really anything you want, and I would spend most of the time either gaming or coding (or catching up on work if I'm behind), and I'd use it just for general schoolwork as well, and I feel like a 15.6" laptop would be slightly too big to lug around with me all day every day and it might not even fit in my bag. Being £100 cheaper though, it is a difficult option.

I see you've edited the spec to include an SSD, which is a good idea imo for productivity.

If you were going for an Optimus, you might be able to squeeze in a larger and much, much faster SSD:

This is why it's such a difficult choice. The Optimus is probably heavier and would be more difficult to carry around and move around frequently with, but it's cheaper and could have a bigger and faster SSD, whereas the Defiance would be lighter and easier to carry around and move around with while being more expensive and having a smaller and slower SSD.
