Some advice an the smaller things (cooling mostly)

So I know I am going to be waiting a while so I though I would check a few things to get the most out of the spec.

Firstly any advice on cooling. I currently have the fan cooler but is the water cooler better? And do I need the thermal paste?

In line with the above do I need the extra fans on the case?

Any help is appreciated. I assume if I change some small things it wont effect my place in the queue (as I imagine the queue for the graphics card is gonna outweigh any other component queue)

Hi there. You’ll need to make a couple of changes to optimise the system. The motherboard will require upgrading to the ROG Strix X570, it’s got better heat sinks and VRM to deal with the output of the CPU. And definitely opt for liquid cooling, the H115i RGB Platinum is the right choice.

Once you’ve made those changes you can drop the extra fans and the Arctic thermal paste. Corsair coolers come with quality paste pre-applied.

I’d also suggest that you up the WiFi card to the AX200 as it’s faster and has built in Bluetooth. Upping the PSU to the 850w RMx would be a bit of future proofing. And the silver warranty for an extra fiver is just good sense.

Is overclocking the AMD CPUs worthwhile?
Not recommended. They’ve got a frequency boost that acts as in built overclocking. There’s been cases where an overclock has actually been a detriment to performance.

If the clock has been applied by PCS it’ll have been tested overnight in quality control so you should (in theory) be sound. I personally wouldn’t do it. You could potentially call them and ask them to not overclock it, as I don’t think you can change to a non OC version on your net account with them without cancelling the order and starting again.

Had to change the case to fit the liquid cooler. Changed for the meshify S2 as I liked the look of it. Anything wrong with that case? Says its not in stock but I think it will arrive before my GPU does.

I didn't increase the PSU as I don't intend to upgrade.

I will leave the overclock on as I trust PCS to get that right.
