Stuck Pixel

Afternoon Folks,

I have a little problem that somebody may be able to help me with if possible.

I have a stuck pixel on my screen. It believe it to be stuck as it is blue on a black background and not constant black or white.

I have googled and ran some .exe files that produce the algorithm that rapidly flash a box which is placed over the affected screen area, but these have not kicked it into life. I have left it running for an hour with no effect and am unwilling to leave it going for a longer period as I am worried of doing more harm to other pixels in the same area.

Anybody have any other ideas/fixes that I may be able to try?

The screen is a Vortex Series: 17.3" Matte Full HD LED Widescreen (1920x1080) with 2 x NVIDIA® GeForce® GTX 680M - 4.0GB DDR5 Video RAM - DirectX® 11

Thanks

Torgan

I don't suppose you purchased the 'dead pixel' warranty?

I wasn't aware that it had to be either black or white to be classed as dead. I just figured if it wasn't changing it was classed the same? (although I'm here to be shown the error of my ways :))

Unfortunately I didn't purchase the dead pixel warranty....... /sigh

Initially I wasn't aware of a difference either (if it didn't change, then it had gone to pixel heaven), but after googling "dead pixels" it would seem that if they appear coloured on a black background, then the pixel is just "stuck" and can be "prodded" back into working order by way of an epileptic fit inducing series of screen flashes that you run and position over the bad area (I had to put a tea towel over my laptop it was that mental). I just don't trust it..... worried that I might leave it running and come back to a completely dead area of my screen instead of a healthy pixel.

I just thought that one of you good folks out there might have a "trick" that I could try....

I've heard of people massaging the area to release the stuck pixel. Never tried it, so im not sure how well it works. Also, don't blame me if you press too hard and it damages the screen :p

It would be ironic if you left the program running and it fixed your dead pixel - but ruined all the others.

I had a stuck/dead pixel (blue on black screen, red on white screen), contacted PCS, they suggested I ran UDPixel (its free) http://udpix.free.fr/ as they have had some success with it in the past. You can change the size of the 'flashes' to just cover the single pixel so you dont have to worry about it affecting the rest of your screen. Unfortunately it didnt work for me and I had to send it in under my dead pixel warranty, but you could give it a try, you never know. Good luck :)
