Summer Showcases

This week is basically Christmas for video game fans. The Switch 2 releases; the Summer Game Fest and various events will announce upcoming PC games with a mix of teaser trailers, demos and possibly a release date or two; Sony have their latest Playstation State of Play as well.

Some of what is on from a PC point of view can be found here: https://store.steampowered.com/sale/summer_showcase_2025

We're likely to get something a bit off the wall and unexpected. Many are hoping that Hollow Knight: Silksong might get shadow dropped. Not sure I can see that, but it would be cool!

It's a great time of the year to be a gamer!

Just on this topic, has anyone heard of the upcoming title "MindsEye"?

This has a lot of potential, developed by a new studio headed by talent from Rockstar.

It's a single player story driven action adventure, looks heavily influenced by GTA, Cyberpunk, with a bit of Deus Ex thrown in.

Now it LOOKS really good, but there's a lot of controversy surrounding this one that I don't really understand where it's come from

Just be aware of this, I wouldn't pre-order this game, it's due for release on the 10th June, just give it time for some reviews to hit before jumping on it

A few of the games that caught my attention during the events have been the following:

Big Walk is the upcoming game from the devs behind Untitled Goose Game and this looks like it is also going to be a quirky experience. It's out next year and certainly is one to keep an eye on.

Beast of Reincarnation is made by Game Freak, best known for the Pokemon series and is an Action RPG set in Japan. I'm intrigued and will also be curious about how it is when it releases next year.

I/O Interactive announced a while back that they were working on a James Bond game, and 007 First Light is the result. It provides an origin story for Bond and the trailer on the Steam page is very similar to the backstory of the recent Hitman trilogy, so I suspect it's more Hittman with the Bond license. I'm here for it!

Clockwork Revolution is a game that has been on my radar for a while. It's a first person Steampunk RPG made by InXile Entertainment for Xbox Game Studios. Microsoft's backing means it's not indie, but it may have Clair Obscur levels of awesomeness if the devs manage to pull this off!
