Thoughts on this spec for my use case?

Hey! I'm a convert from SCAN after some bad customer service; thought I'd give PCS a try. So far, my interaction with them has been great.

I'd love to hear thoughts on this spec; I'll be pairing it with 2x 4K 60hz monitors; but may potentially switch one out for a 165hz 1440p monitor for gaming. I'm also a software engineer and will be working in Visual Studio and compiling applications frequently/doing some virtualization/docker containerization, while gaming. I was on the fence with 32GB 3600mhz RAM vs 64GB 3200mhz. I am fortunate enough that budget is not too much of a concern for me; and given that I spend a lot of time on my PC (as I work on it too), happy to spend the money.

Removed the fluff from the spec and left in the essentials, follow the link to see the full spec:

Looks like a great set up you have here.

Honestly imo dont worrie to much about ram speeds.. you wont see any real benefit between 3200-3600. I would go 3200
but i am sure somone on here can correct me on their advice of course

Personally I would be more likely to go down the AMD route than Intel. The X299 is a very old platform now and the future is looking very bleak.

That's a brilliant system, don't get me wrong. It's an absolute power-house.

The AM4 with the 3950X and relatively standard cooling would have you more than covered performance wise though.

Thanks for the insight Scott. I'm a bit of a blind Intel fanboy honestly; I did research between the two quite extensively (and looked at TR a bit too), and for much of that research I was team AMD... but ultimately ended back up at Intel. I'm coming from an i7-6700K, so anything is an upgrade at this point!

I guess that's what I really need to decide on at this point.

I've always been an Intel fan. I have the 6700K in my laptop and the 9900K in my desktop. AMD is definitely the way to go right now though as there's a good future with the socket. Intel is just re-hashing old tech constantly. I think we are going to be into 2022 before we see Intel back on top.

The TR4 would wipe the floor with Intel but I think it may be overkill to be honest. The 3950X is an unreal chip and puts most Intel HEDT chips in the shade.

@Scott I remained stubborn and stuck with Intel. I will regret it later (I'm sure), but for now I'll enjoy the anticipation of waiting for my new machine.

I just hope I don't need to buy a new GPU in a few months with the announcements coming tomorrow!
