Knew it was too good to be true, my new lappy purchase was going so well, until i turned it on this morning, 10 mins into empire total war, then Panic! As smoke came bellowing out and could smell burning.! Melted hole in bottom of laptop now, couldve been a major fire if i werent here.
Had to disconnect and turn everything off myself, laptop didnt cut-off.!

By the way, i use lappy on fan cooler, elevated with good clearance all way round.

Return time.!
Shame, not sure i want a fire hazard back.

Well, i dont wanna open it and void warranty or whatever, but the hole underneath is near the heat pipes that i can see thru the vents.
Looking at it upside down, holes located to the far right between vents

Theres now something rattling around inside also.! Aaargh man.

Smoke coming out of the chassis is pretty worrying, never thought it could happen with a laptop.

Yer, ill keep y'all informed.

Trying to remain upbeat still, sh*t happens n'all that. Not gona start slagging off the company just yet ;) as ive said in other posts, been happy with entire process so far. Will be interesting to see how quickly they deal with this issue, bearing in mind it was a potential fire/explosion. ( shall i take battery out btw?)
Lets see how long it takes em to contact me.

I'd suggest giving them a call mate, will most likely be faster than email.

Ouch. That looks pretty nasty. I'd advise not to use it and when you have had time to calm down and let what happened sink in, give them a call and discuss it with the support. I'm sure they will do something about it as the laptop is brand new! Hopefully they sort you out as quickly as possible.

I am really curious as to what caused that though!

There's no way you accidentally plugged a different power adaptor in? (Not saying you did, just a possibility, I've done it before and fried something)

As promised, heres update about issue with my new lappy catching on fire - fault report below :-

On receiving the laptop it was clear to see that the motherboard had burnt thru the plastic on the bottom of the chassis.
This is a very strange problem and the first i have seen to this extent, one of the compositors on the motherboard had blown.
I have replaced the faulty motherboard and run a full stress test on the new motherboard with no faults.

I should recieve laptop tmrw, so all in all its been a reasonably quick turn around dealing with my issue, although ive still lost confidence in being able to leave my laptop on unattended.! I shall test the lappy for few days once ive recieved it and post back ere if theres any more probs.
Thanks again for the positive comments peeps (the forum that cares) ;)

Blown caps are pretty rare for a new laptop, that was just very unlucky on your part. But glad you got it sorted.

Sorry to hear your problem Trigger, but glad your getting it sorted quickly. Only thing I'm thinking is their report says they have replaced the mother board, at 6 days old and a melted chassis, I'd have expected a complete new laptop replacement. Would it not be possible that the overheat at that point could have maybe detrimental effect on the CPU with the extreme heat.
