I am considering buying a VORTEX III with a AMD 7970m graphics, and I am wondering if it supports switchable graphics if paired with an i7-3720QM. Not really concerned about how manual the switching process might be.
As far as I know AMD doesn't do something similar to nVidia's Optimus at the moment.
Someone will surely correct me if I'm mistaken though I'm sure
In my opinion, if you're buying a laptop with that much power you shouldn't really expect much battery life, you're going for performance afterall. I've read problems with nVidia's Optimus like it doesn't turn the card on for some games/doesn't turn it off at the right time, these are all driver issues however.
It is more of a noise and heat concern, I don't really plan on using it off the mains. To me a laptop battery is just a UPS, in case I trip the cable or something. It's just, whenI am not gaming, I'd rather have it as quiet and cool as possible. What is the Enduro feature, sounds similar to Optimus?
this feature is present in the gpu itself (called ADM Enduro) but has not been confirmed yet with the clevo lappyes, it should be supported but as there are no official drivers as of now, no one can confirm the situation
