What's it for? I'm struggling to think of anything you could use a pc for where that build could be described as anything other than terrible.

And... You've always found the latest Intel chips to be more reliable than the latest AMD chips? How many 3 and 5 series amd cpus have you owned since they were first released 18 months ago???

You've got no parts there which are pre-order so I would guess it would be 20-30 working days (going by some users on here). You would have to speak to PCS who might be able to give you a rough idea as it would be pure guess work by any of us on here as none of us work for them :)

I would recommend you pay £5 and upgrade to the silver warranty. Gives you a years coverage of postage cost (which isn't cheap as you can imagine) if something goes wrong.

I have a ryzen 7 5800x in my other pc and have currently had it replaced twice due to defects / issues

What's it for? It might well be you have a niche use where I could get behind this build.

Who did you get the 5800x from? Pcs? What was wrong with it?

its going to be used for work and the occasional gaming. For work the software I use recommends intel as the software runs better with avx-512 which amd doesn't support on any of their cpus . I also Forgot to add to the spec that I have a 3080/3070 or quadro pny 4000 which I can put into it, I also have a 2tb Samsung evo m.2 which I will reload windows onto and use the ssd as additional storage.

My ryzen 7 came from ebuyer the first one arrived with a bent pin and a pin missing. Then the other one was DOA. So on my third ryzen 7 which so far seems to be ok

We cant guarantee you anything, so I’d recommend give PCS a call tomorrow and ask them about your queue spot in your order since I’ve seen people be able to check that before by just calling up PCS. Thats your best bet to see if you’ll have enough time for your sons birthday or not.

You can try go 4x8 instead of 2x16 for the RAM configuration, it does offer a performance benefit that's above margin of error and IMO would be worth the money given you've specced out a high end system.

The Intel cpu is for software that you use, for a pc that's for your son??? Don't get it.

Anyway if you're putting a decent m2 into it and a decent gpu then it's less unappealing now. Don't really understand the comment that you have a 3080 or 3070 or quadro pny 4000 to put into it. You've got all three of those just lying around?!

Also still don't get the use of it and whether it's for you or your son.

ahhh I get you, Its for my son but I'm also going to be using it during the day when he's on his laptop doing remote schooling, im working from home at the moment thanks to coronavirus. I have a pny quadro 4000 which work supplied me with and then I bought a 3070 for my son as a surprise and a 3080 for myself for when I get round to ordering a pc for myself.
