Hi Guys,

I have received my new pc and have this issue where my wired headset is recognized as speakers. I have tried reinstalling drivers, updating, changing primary audio device and whatever else all YouTube tutorials suggested, still can't get it to work. Any idea for the fix?

Thanks in advance!

Could you post your full specs from the order page?

Which output are you plugging your headphones into?

I am plugging in splitter into the motherboard at the back of the case, audio in green (line out) and mic into pink (mic in). For whatever reason it recognises it as speakers and then my microphone doesn't work in game + the audio sounds weird.

What make and model headset?

It's never a good idea to use a multi use headset, they're really designed for consoles and don't really work great for PC. Basically if you need to use a splitter, then it's not suitable. It's only the cheaper models that do this.

Nowadays, it's far better to get a proper USB headset.

Razer Blackshark V2 x. Even If I plug it in at the front, without the splitter, it doesn't recognise it as a headset.

It won't, because it's a 4 prong jack as it has both audio and mic inputs.

Computer ports are just 3 prong just for left and right channel, they don't have the facility for mic.

That headset should come with a little USB dongle, you need to use that for computer.

I am baffled as it worked with no issues whatsoever on my gaming laptop, but it won't run on the new pc with windows 11. There was not a USB dongle when it arrived.

You can get combination (TRRS) jacks on the front of a case. Mine has one and I believe the 5000X does too. While it might not be ideal (front audio is never amazing), it should work.

@MinVer Have you removed the splitter from the back of the case when you plug the headset into the front? Which audio device do you have selected?

In the taskbar, click the volume icon, then the words that are above the volume control. It will show at least one audio option and probably more. Here's mine:

Oh, and also, right click the volume icon, then go to "Sound settings", and see which the "input device" setting is. If you have other things plugged in (webcam, controller, etc.) it may be detecting those as the default input, so you may need to change it.

I have just connected my sony xm3's through bluetooth and it seems to recognise it no problem, but i won't be able to use these for gaming (sound a lot better than the razer headset :ROFLMAO:). I have now tried to plug in the headset through the front audio jack, does and the pc doesn't recognise it at all.
