You can purchase a retail boxed upgrade to Windows 8 for £49 which will upgrade you to Windows 8 Professional from Windows 7/Vista or XP. More details will be available after 26th October. If you purchased Windows 7 between June 2, 2012 and January 31, 2013 you qualify for the upgrade offer for £14.99: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-gb/windows/upgrade-offer

Correct me if I'm wrong here:
As far as I understand, the discounted offer is for Windows 8 Professional, and is valid for any computer purchased with any version of Windows 7. Am I then correct in believing that buying a PC with Win7 Home Premium and upgrading to Win8 Pro later is cheaper than buying Win8 Pro outright?

That would appear to be the case unless I'm misreading something.
Windows home premium £79,
You can upgrade to windows 8 pro for £14. 99 if you buy a Windows 7 PC between June 2, 2012 and January 31, 2013. total for OS £93.99

Windows 8 pro to buy outright £109.
Personally though I would prefer to have the windows 8 pro disk if I ever get windows 8,which I doubt.:)
