Z170 Motherboards

Hi, Any info would be appreciated.
I ordered the Azure system with the Asus Z170A motherboard, now because of the issues with Asus i have changed the board to Gigabyte Z170xp, The thing is i dont particularly like this board but can live with it til it bugs me :).
I now see these boards are already out of date as Asus has just released 10 new boards as well as other manufacturers. PCS give no other options now in regards to which motherboard you can use for Z170 chipset ( only Gigabyte ).

Right, never having upgraded a motherboard only in a system i will want to wait a bit and purchase a new motherboard and install it using all the parts from the Azure.
What i would like help with is, Do you see any problems i might encounter doing this, Will i need to reinstall windows ? or will windows detect the new Motherboard and ask for drivers etc
Thx for your input guys

Noting that I've never installed a new motherboard, these are the things I think you will have issues with:
1. It'll basically be a complete rebuild of the entire machine, and if you haven't built a machine before I'd recommend a lot of reading up on the subject and watching YouTube
2. I'm not sure which OS comes with the Azure, but if its Win7 or Win8.1 it is basically tied to the machine, or as its otherwise known - the motherboard, so you may need a new Windows license unless you can persuade Microsoft that its the same machine in essence (I don't know how easy this would be).
3. A brand new install of Windows and all the relevant drivers would be required (at least I'm pretty sure about this).

As I said, I've never done it, so you might want to wait for some other responses, but that's what I reckon could be the issues.

How come the Asus boards all disappeared? Is there some kind of issue at the moment?

Yes, there are issues with the ASUS motherboards and RAM for the new Skylake CPUs, so they've been pulled off the available list until the issues are fixed

what is it that you don't like about the gigabyte mobo? I am curious as I too have changed the mobo from the Asus - which I prefer the look of but cant see too much difference between them on tech side?

I was also looking to order a skylake form PCS this month and I'm disappointed to say the least with what's happened regarding asus.

I would like to ask if there is any info on the return of the asus boards or how long roughly they will remain unavailable.

Also I would like to ask when PCS will be getting a better choice of skylake boards as currently they show only two and both the choices are middle end boards with no gigabyte gaming boards on offer, poor choice indeed.

To see the other gigabyte boards look here:http://www.gigabyte.com/products/list.aspx?s=42&jid=0&p=346&v=27

It would be nice if someone from PCS could give more info as right now I am thinking of looking elsewhere that has a better lineup of skylake boards, but I'd rather not have to as I prefer PCS.

Thanks guys and sorry for asking more than one thing!

Edit: why can't I find skylake purchase options from any of the drop menus on the PCS website. Am I blind or just missing it? At the moment I have to go to google and type PC specialist skylake. I know I'm old but whereabouts is the link.

Ps: typed on iPhone as PC is kaput

Hi velvet,
The Gigabyte Z170XP is not a full size ATX board its a bit narrower,so it does'ent use the last screw downs on the right hand side you need to be very careful when connecting power to the board as there is less support here, Also there are only 2 PCI-E slots,The smaller ones about 40mm long, the asus has 3. I have a sound card Asus Essence STX which fits into this type of slot.the lower one will be obstructed by the graphics card and i dont like the idea of squeezing it in above, whereas the asus board has a slot at the bottom out of the way. I could plug it into the other 16x slot that is shared by the GTX as i am doing now but that makes the slot 8x. hope im'e fairly clear in what i want
