Well, you could wait for the nVidia 6xx series but I would honestly go for the AMD, it is so much more powerful and will last you longer. If you must, you can easily prove to your friends you have got the more powerful card. Which games exactly would you be playing?

gotta say i disagree with you on the 7970 (i think thats what it's called) and say for the money, it's not worth it over the sleight (don't hate me) advantage of the gtx580, also sli these badboys and you can max out everything (and i mean EVERYTHING!)

Ok, so as you need (i think) a monitor/keyboard/mouse i have put those into the spec and it got too around 2600
But if thats too much just take the second 580 and you'll still have a 3D gaming beast (i added the glasses so your 3D screen wasn't for nothing!)
Also, i have the Razer Blackwidow ultimate keyboard, and can say i love it to bits, so i change from the G19 you put in to the one i think is better (and cheaper)
Also, my steam id is: the_f3ared add me !

Another thing is i have the eco coolIT 240 and love it to bits, it keeps everything cool and quite :)

Well £2600-2700 might be a little too much, and regarding the 3D monitor, I had plans to just purchase the rest of the 3D equipment (and a G930 headset too) at the end of this month (PAY DAY YEAAAH), so I mean I could wait until then but as I said, I'm having to loan laptops from all over the house currently and not having a PC is driving me nuts. I am confident that I could install a second 580 in a few months time if I felt I needed the extra horsepower but I think 1 for now will do me fine.

Ok, so remove the second 580 and change from the G700 to the Razer deathadder (if you want to be as cool as me!)
Another tip when buying the HAF X is to buy another 200mm fan and install it in to top (i have a non-led one and will send it to you but you pay shipping) if you want :)
But apart from that, just remeber if your planning on getting another gtx580 plan for that by getting the 1050w power supply :)

You can max out everything now, but in a few years time...

Have a look at this: http://www.amd-radeon.com/2012/02/amd-radeon-7970-battlefield-3-benchmark.html

Just to mention the wifi card, I would strongly recommend homeplugs over a wifi card.

So you'd say the Razer mouse is better than the G700? And I may take you up on that offer, I've installed fans before so it should be a piece of cake and yes that was the plan, for me installing a new PSU is one of the biggest annoyances when it comes to PCs, it's all DISCONNECT ALL THE THINGS... RECONNECT ALL THE THINGS. So yes, 1050W should be sufficient for 2x 580s, what are your thoughts on it being able to handle 3 of them?

i would try to find a graph which puts this nicely, but im to lazy soo here goes
The 580 has 100% power ok?
but 2 in sli only have 195% (or around there)
but with 3 in sli it gets to only around 245% (only 50% more at the most)
But this is if i remember correctly, it could be less tbh..
so i would stick with two, them upgrade to the 780 or 880 which is my plan :)

Aah God I'd love to use homeplugs, Virgin SuperCrap isn't compatible with them I believe.... not to worry though, I shall be getting wired throughout the house for teh fast interwebs.
Also with getting wired, my familys house (im a kid, did you guess?!) is kinda big so when we did decided to drill though solid rock to get wired connection it was tough, but worth it!

you don't realise just how much dropout you get with wifi until your wired XD

Yep I was thinking about that too, and this may be a silly question but do you remember, when the 500 series came out, what happened to the prices of the 400 series?

They dropped, if i remember not significantly though.
Saying that (if you can bare it) you could always wait for the 680

Firstly, I didn't actually! Secondly, I already know how abysmal wireless is, I believe there was talk of drilling a hole through our house (I live on the third floor) but I think it's easier and less disruptive to get a 50-75m cable and wind it up the stairs etc. My dad can to do a pretty tidy job of hiding them too, which is all good.

I would love to, but I honestly don't think I can hold out that long, stupid nVidia are making us wait until March earliest I believe? If they do say that it's 2-3 weeks a way I will wait, without a doubt, I just hope they don't charge obscene prices for the new range.

that's the problem with tech, they never give you any warning, my mate bought a 480 and literally the next week the 580 was announced! god he was ****ed. until he returned it!

i really hope that the 680 blows the 7970 out of the water :p
but anyway, i never said it was better (ok i did maybe.. so what?)
nvidia ftw! (in my opinion, please don't sue me!)

I have no doubt that the 680 will demolish the 7970. In fact, I am pretty sure they are supposed to be about 45% faster. I prefer nVidia myself, I am not a fan of AMD. However, I would be more interested in getting the best performance rather than the brand.

Ahaha, I don't believe PCS would accept being ****ed off as an excuse for exchange to be honest, especially if the value decreases. Anyway I really hope that doesn't happen to me, from what I've seen from the leaked data, the cards are looking extraordinary!

Heard this statistic before. Made a video about it in excitement actually.
