I've downclocked to 3200 MHz and left my PC running while I work on my mac - it's sat on the Apex holding screen which was enough to trigger a crash before. I'll leave it hanging there for a while and see if anything comes up. Will consider an hour without a crash to be an improvement -> 5 hours...
Really strange! I wonder if the game puts the RAM under a certain amount of stress or something....
Just to be clear, my RAM is currently downclocked to 3533 which previously solved the issue (see attached screenshot)
Nothing has changed in that respect, but I wonder if going down to 3200...
Really appreciate your sagely wisdom Ubuysa.
In the past with the 4x8GB Sticks error, downclocking from 3600 -> 3533 completely removed the crashing issue. The crashing issue was occurring when the computer was idle. Secondly, the crashing is _only_ happening when I play Apex Legends...
Quick update - analysing the crash dump from another crash linked directly to the Apex process, which is a bit of a relief - I was beginning to wonder if this was hardware related. Link: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1qIo6RvXwxM-6A01WLGEWIgLMgxGpmkCK/view?usp=sharing
@SpyderTracks - Not tried...
No, no GPU driver updates that I'm aware of. No update that I'm aware of.
Only happens when I'm playing Apex, can't go one or two games before a crash. In the past, I've played 20-30 games back to back of Apex without a problem. The reason I'm coming here is because I'm seeing WHEA errors.
Just to update: happened again, but this time didn't write a memory.dmp file which is interesting.
Monitored CPU and GPU temps - CPU was 38c and GPU was 65c so nothing concerning there.
PC goes to black screen and PC restarts.
Noticed something consistent in the event viewer: Session "Cloud...
Hi guys! PC has been running great until recently. I've been having a little trouble with crashes during gaming. When I crashed, I was playing Apex Legends. The crash doesn't seem to be happening when I don't play Apex.
Only observable thing I noticed was that it happens at the end of the game...
Hi there! I think this thread would be more appropriate in the ‘check this spec’ section of the forum. Perhaps a mod with some powers can move it for you.
Just so you’re aware, updating your BIOS can invalidate your warranty with PCS. I’d recommend getting in touch with PCS and letting them know, just to make sure you’re still in warranty.
If I were you, I’d consider running some stress testing software to confirm. Maybe even lower the RPM on case fans to try and increase the GPU temp.
Alternatively, some GPUs have a manual setting that allow you to set the RPM of the fans, regardless of temp. I’d also consider that to make sure...
Just a heads up - I was having crashing issues and I set my RAM frequency to 3533 (with an AMD Ryzen 5900x, 4x8gb) and it’s been fine ever since. So you might not need to drop all the way down to 3200.
Understood. The 3090 is a pretty beefy GPU by the looks of things, but like I said, the arm wasn't supporting the GPU anyway so I've just lowered it right down so it's out of the way. Maybe there's a better place for it to live. I'll take a look tonight. Thanks :)
