The reason I have rejected the repair cost is because for an extra £300 I could get a brand new computer with newer components. Paying £900 repair is just a diminishing return and i'm frankly just very disappointed that this has happened and annoyed with PCS. I appreciate the points you made...

Be very careful updating BIOS. You can brick your laptop doing that.

I just assumed that a matched pair means they are both exactly the same module. Make and specs wise. Is that what you mean?

Have you checked the photo i provided earlier on in the thread? They are a matching pair of modules. I have attached below for your reference.
