once you progress the wepons you unlock can be used in each faction.
Because in the real world, not many terrorists have M4s...and not many US Marines use AK47s![]()
But many full scale wars are won by blowing up random electronics either, and considering you can unlock them later it's not a really relevant point. It is frustrating having to unlock the red dot sight (or any sight) for a gun, only to have to play as the other faction the next round and have to do it all over again. Am I really the only person here who is not finding BF3 all it was cracked up to be or is it really the best game ever and I'm just missing the point?
I honestly dont see a problem with it, your unlocking a red dot sight for a completely different gun, if it was a game about a civil war the possibly everyone having the same guns would be rel;evant, but I think your wanting it to be too similar to the norm, whats wrong with a bit of change? In my eyes it gives you more to unlock. Infact on COD they had the new system where you had to buy red dots for each individual weapon. Granted it was easy to earn the money to do so but its a step in the right direction. There needs to be a lot more for people to unlock online to keep the majority of people interested. Short of having hundreds upon hundreds of guns, allowing each gun to be effectively ranked up and modified based on how much you use that particular gun is a great idea.
I honestly dont see the seperate guns, seperate factions as a problem
It seems to be they're obviously upping the 'unlockables' so that the game compares with COD in terms of progression. The major difference is in COD it's easy to unlock a reddot sight, but Battlefield 3 is a much steeper learning curve, so racking up the kills to unlock the various sights isn't going to be done in 1 or 2 matches for the average player on Battlefield. The initial 'hell yeah just got a sight' is going to completely fade when in the next round they are back to using Iron Sights getting dumped on by A-Cogs and RDS again. I hate comparing BF3 to COD but it seems from various interviews with EA that they wanted the progression side of things in BF3 to compete with MW3, and in doing so have made the game that little bit less accessible.
Unlocking every little thing is the new fad in game development now, haven't you noticed yet? Worthless achievements (they're all worthless) and unlocking every single thing.
I will admit I actually enjoy having to unlock things, but only if it's done correctly. If, say, there are 50 things to unlock in BF3, like weapons, sights, and so forth, and I can unlock them all in a day, then it's a pointless barrier. If I actually have to really work to get them... say, 50 headshots to unlock the next sniper rifle* then that's great, that's a proper goal to work towards.
*Snipers ruin games, I would never use one, just using it because it's the first one that popped in to my head.
Um how do snipers spoil a game? Ive honestly never heard someone say that before. The only reason cod fails with them, isnt because its a sniper, but because thye allow ridiculous quick scope
In BF2 and other objective based games I find snipers are completely lazy, withdrawn, and playing the game as if it were a single player game. Playing the game simply to get kills, not to achieve the objectives. It can be a very useful class if they play along with the rest of us, they could lay very cleverly concealed claymore mines at strategic places where there weren't enough of us to defend as an early warning system, they can spot enemies coming from longer distances, and cover a much wider spot with their scope than 2 or 3 other guys can with regular weapons.
But they don't do any of this. They think snipers are cool, and therefore that they are cool, and they don't give a toss, they just find whatever spot suits them and spend the entire game hoping to get kills. Even if the flag starts to get taken they don't move, even if they have a chance to really help the team and take it back, they just want to sit and kill another guy.
Other people do it too but it's most commonly done by snipers, it goes with the class, in general. In kids games like CoD I couldn't give a toss what people do, I don't play childrens games with children, I play games where it's most likely to have more adults than kids and in those games I think it's ruined when people play with no regard to what is needed or what's going on.
Have you watched the Metro map for BF3, or played it? People are so god damn obsessed with the idea that being a sniper is cool that they will use it on a map like Metro. Guarantee it, at least 10 snipers per team on Metro on a 64-man server.
