Dali...Im glad you finally posted that mate because I was embaressed to ask and initially thought it was the guy from the Carry On films....Frankie Howerd...

... so the melting clocks fella....well there you go...

Haha i think Dali would have loved Carry On - i think he was a bit of voyeur. I didn't get into him through other artists or anything, I just watched the Simpsons episode where Homer eats the Peyote Curry and starts tripping out and was curious where the art style came from.

If you're interested and have some free time then here's a great modern beeb documentary on how Dali changed art and influenced popular culture and the concept of the absurd.

I've not actually heard of him before, but those pictures do look really good, different to what people may normally expect from art.

If you're a Mighty Boosh fan Noel Fielding chats about surrealism and how it messed with people's perceptions of art. The influence lasts today - i really believe we would never have off the wall ideas like floating sky citys of denialists in if it weren't for the movmenet Dali pioneered. The formula of the beautiful and macabre is the same in his art as it is in Bioshock.

Promise thats the end of my arty chat.

Yeh apart from dumb metacritic and amazon reviewers... I know everyone is entitled too there own opinion but some of these reviews make me mad... One guy on metacritic automatically gave it a 0 because it isn't set in rapture... and I found a review on amazon that gave the game a 1 star because the game was too hard when he put it on hard mode... uhh

To sum up metacritic ...

Please ignore that useless popularity contest (no real contest it is based on favoritism- http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2013-03-27-metacritic-score-weighing-process-revealed-report).

I did watch the Mighty Boosh a bit, I thought the one where they were hallucinating on an island and thought it was a society run by Coconuts was quite funny.

And if it was set in Rapture again it probably would have been complained at about over beating the same setting after already being in the two previous games. xD Another set in Rapture leading up to, during and then the fall of Rapture might have been a nice addition (I know the Multiplayer is based on the fall of Rapture, but it's not really much of an in depth story line, but just set at that time), I think the flying city is a really good change in direction for the game, personally.

The Amazon review, I suspect it was either a child, Troll or.. someone that has no concept of game difficulty settings and how they work. :D

He went on too say that he had played all of his games on hard without this sort of problem.. he also doesn't understand that different games carry different difficulties... haha

Did anyone else hear about this?

http://kotaku.com/some-dont-like-bioshocks-forced-baptism-enough-to-as-473178476

According to the article a bioshock player found a baptism section of the game offensive towards his religion and raised the issue with Steam and Steam happily obliged. I haven't played the game yet but just wasn't sure in what context this scene would be offensive? Is it because the player is being forced to play a character of different religion?

I'm not criticizing the guy, fair play to him for being honest to his religion.

That's just hilarious!

Gotta love the overarching theme of the replies...

...so he doesnt like the forced baptism, but is fine with maiming and killing hundreds of people, among other things.

Religious nuts do love their double standards :)

That was my first though, on a couple of videos i've seen theres a lot of pro black slavery, and i thought it was a bit weird that this is what pushes his button.

Considering the franchise is one of the most disturbing of all time I'm amazed at some people's naivety. People seem to believe they have a right not to be offended, and that their own volition has nothing to do with the content they digest. Focusing on a fictional baptism in a fictional floating city filled with imaginary racists misses the point for me. +1 for the article though

This has swayed me to actually get the game, i was on the fence about it but reading things in the news after actually played it has made it seem like a great game, plus the Old School Hard Mode sounds like a.. em.. challenge.

Thanks for the rep, i thought it was good of Steam to honour his wishes, i just hope this doesn't start a spike in people trying to get away with refunds.

I mean I found Modern Warfare 3 offensive, but whereas offending religious beliefs is seen as a no-no, offending my brain apparently isn't :)

CoD bashing, yey!

Yup, its an offshoot of Godwin's Law, that states that:

"As an online discussion about games grows longer, the probability of slagging off Modern Warfare or Slack Ops reaches 1"

:D
