Hi Folks
Have recently bought a new desktop containing a Crucial T705 1TB SSD (M.2_1). I know these tend to run hot. Mine is operating at 58-62C under most conditions. It’s within normal bounds, but it would be nice to cool it down a bit.
My MB is an ASUS Crosshair X870E Hero and I also have a Corsair MP600 SSD (M.2_4) and an EVGA GTX 2080 Super.
I’m looking at a Thermalright HR10 2280 PRO Black SSD Cooler.
Has anyone successfully used one of these on this MB without needing to modify it or the MB?
Obviously, the T705 needs to be in one of the Gen 5 slots (M.2_1, M.2,_2 M.2_3) and using M.2_3 would compromise the performance of the PCIe slot that houses the GPU. So that leaves M.2_1 (where it is currently installed) or M.2_2.
I’ve not done this sort of thing before so would also be interested to know whether I need to change the thermal pad and where best to attach the heatsink fan to provide it with power. Will it be controllable using iCUE? I don’t have Armoury Crate installed (it was a disaster when I tried it).
Thanks in hopeful anticipation.
