I NEED HELP ON OVER CLOCKING PLEASE :(

I just bought a PC from PCS and I have the AMD Ryzen 5 3600XT I also have a Corsair H100i RGB PLATINUM Hydro Series. I Tried using AMD's software to overclock it, from from what I have read this CPU can be overclocked it to 4.5? I overclocked all the cores to 4.2gz and I rebooted. something strange happened after...
So the pc was running smooth and from task manager I can see its running at 4.2gz, I ran GTA 5 and saw a massive increase in frames however every time I try to open the AMD software now it crashes my computer?

so you recommend I go through the bios to change the clock speed back to 3.5? this confuses me because online it claims it can do up to 4.5?

this is confusing for me, I am new to overclocking. I don't understand if it isn't worth overclocking then why did i see such a significant increase in frames? it went from 50-60fps to 70-100fps

The chips have a built in frequency boost which will act as an auto-OC. Whilst you can apply a further manual overclock it often leads to system instability, which seems to be what you experienced.

There can be various reasons for an increase, also increased performance for one game or part of can result in degraded performance or crashes in others.

What research did you do on overclocking AMD processors?

when looking at 3600xt online everywhere it claims it can havea max boost of 4.5ghz even on the spec it says that so i set the clocks to 4.5.

is a review where they ran all cores at 4.6 using additional cooling (as you have) for a small benefit (8%) But you really need to know what you are doing to overclock these Ryzen CPU's as the in built Precision Boost is so good. You are risking a lot for 8%... It is not advisable, and anyway, where are you going to need all cores running at 4.5/4.6 when the PBO gets you to that on one core when you need it.

Do you know if my pc is performing well or not/ when it was defult and i had auto OC on, i was getting around 60fps on gta 5/ i was confused loading Minecraft as at the start it had it set to 60 fps but once i realised it went up to 1500fps

As i asked earier what resolution & refresh rate is your monitor, the maximum fps you will get is eqivalent to the refresh rate of your monitor
