If you don’t mind me asking how do I do that? I’m in the UK will the cloud fare DNS still be fine to use and what difference does It make to the one I’m currently onChange the DNS server addresses for your wireless card to the Cloudflare ones: 1.1.1.1 and 1.0.0.1.
The servers your probably using are those provided by your ISP and they're often less than ideal. The Cloudflare servers are safe and secure and reliable. I've been using them for a long time.If you don’t mind me asking how do I do that? Thanks, if I don’t change my DNS can it cause any more serious problems or will it just continue to randomly disconnect meGood step by step guide here.
It won't cause any problems if you don't change, you'll just get the same problems. Thanks, if I don’t change my DNS can it cause any more serious problems or will it just continue to randomly disconnect me
Sorry for the late response I changed the DNS to the one you suggested but when i access network settings and trouble shoot I’m still getting the same error. I’m able to access the internet fine it’s just it will disconnect me after a while. Any other suggestions? It won't cause any problems if you don't change, you'll just get the same problems.
When I used the troubleshooter on the network adapter I was getting that an error was detected and getting the error I got in the title about the DNS sever. The only reason I checked this was because my internet kept disconnecting. It seems to let me browse the internet fine, why would I be getting that error if the DNS is not the problem? That's not a DNS problem then. Check that the wireless adapter power management is not set to turn off the device to save power.
Can you post a screenshot of the output of the troubleshooter please? When I used the troubleshooter on the network adapter I was getting that an error was detected and getting the error I got in the title about the DNS sever. I’m not able to move my PC to connect drirvetly to the router unfortunately due to where the router is. The power management was ticked on the adapter so I unticked it but still getting the same error. The strange thing is the WiFi appears to work fine and hasn’t been disconnecting me but the error message will still appear when using the network troubleshooterCan you post a screenshot of the output of the troubleshooter please?
Have you attached the two antennas to the back of your wireless card (assuming you are using WiFi to connect)?
Have you checked that in the wireless adapter properties that on the power management tab the checkbox to 'allow the computer to turn off this device to save power' is unchecked?
Please open a PowerShell session and enter these two commands, one at a time....
Get-NetAdapterBinding | Out-File C:\binding.txt
Get-NetAdapterAdvancedProperty | Out-File C:\advprop.txt
You will then have two new files in the root of your C: drive called binding.txt and advprop.txtx, please upload those to the forum.
Please also temporarily connect your PC to your router via cable even if that means moving the PC for a while. This will show us whether the problem is wireless related or somewhere deeper in the system.
