Yes, the 2024 model has the liquid cooling pipe going over BOTH the CPU and GPU.
I run Linux Mint in a VM which works fine. I've not tried running in dual-boot mode.
I have the Recoil 17. The top left LED activates and deactivates the whole touchpad. The right hand LED only affects the right hand side. Not sure why you would want only half of your touchpad working but that's what it does.
It really depends on what your use case is. What will you be using it for? Knowing how you intend to use it the friendly chaps on here will be able to make a better assessment if it's suitable for your needs.
I don't think you'll find anything wider used than eBay.
If you're on FaceBook you might try FaceBook MarketPlace.
But then you would only use FaceBook if your happy to have your data hoovered up and are happy to be bombarded with toxic (and sometimes deadly) misinformation.
Something like this? (AMD is recommended at the moment as there are serious issues with 13th and 14the gen Intel right now.)
Chassis & Display
Ionico Series: 15.3" Matte QHD+ 120Hz sRGB 100% LED Widescreen (2560x1600)
Processor (CPU)
AMD Ryzen™ 7 Eight Core Processor 8845HS (3.8GHz, 5.1GHz...
Something like this. It's within your budget and will exceed your requirements. It's also the only AMD option in the thin and light category at PCSpecialist.
I've increased the RAM to 16GB and gone for a 512GB SSD rather than the 256GB. These are recommended minimums these days. 8GB RAM and...
Brett on the YouTube channel UFD Tech has said that you will only see significant gains if you have not already done optimisations yourself. So if you're an enthusiast who has tinkered around you are less likely to see much improvement but if you're running "out of the box" the the gains could...
Remove Norton as it's little better than malware these days.
Get the watercooler too. It will help keep the noise down and temperatures under control.
Given the problems at Intel right now I would advise getting the maximum warranty. Some advise avoiding Intel altogether.
The latest Recoil 16 is a new design. The latest Recoil 17 is the same as last years with a small improvement to the water channel for the 4080/4090 versions.
I have a 2023 Recoil 17 and there's quite a bit of empty space inside....so the fans are not going to be any bigger.
I would go with...
Hmmm...."just maybe consider a better case down the line." - for a laptop!?
Definitely a bot - but why? I don't get what the bot creator would get from spamming a PC forum with something so banal as this. I get why they would do it on Twitter/X and FaceBook - but here?
It's a great laptop. Don't try to overclock it though as you don't want to see voltage spikes which have been killing high-end desktop 'K' processors and the laptop 'HX' variants are the same as the 'K's but run at a lower wattage. Intel have not said the HX processors are affected but they are...
I actually preferred the look of this one. The "turbine" look on the to of the pump along with the fan to blow air over the VRMs looked like a good design to me.
You have not given us much to go on for your requirements.
That said this would be a good starting point though it depends on how you will be using PhotoShop and LightRoom.
I've given 2 examples below for different budgets and use cases.
The first spec I've posted would be useful if you are...
